Working with color, texture, shape.....magazine advertising.....photograpy.....the work of other
artists; all of these things inspire me. They are why I get up each morning and why I can't wait
to get to my computer and GET STARTED on a new idea!
When I was six years old I found an art book that my Dad used in college. There was this in-
credible hand drawing of a two-headed horse with the most ornate blanket and saddle. I couldn't
take my eyes off all the beautiful colors and patterns, much less the two heads of that horse. I
was determined to draw it even though I had never wanted to draw anything before. It took me
hours but I was so proud after I finished. Mom and Dad, of course told me it was the best draw-
ing they'd ever seen. I've been in love with creating images ever since.
When I was older I couldn't get enough of watching The Twilight Zone, and also The Outer Limits.
Both of these shows allowed me to see very unusual and scary stories with that wonderful twist
at the end. A ninth-grade teacher showed my class the work of the Surrealists. He handed my
class a stack of magazines and said, "Create anything you want using the images you find in
these." I've been hooked ever since.
A new DA friend ( KelmOne ) told me the other day that I "paint with pictures". It is the best in-
terpretation of my work I've ever heard. I love creating, and find each day brings new colors
and shapes; new inspirations !
